The top 5 teams in the MLB this year are a combined 1-12 (as I’m writing this) during this postseason. 2 of the 4 teams with byes didn’t win a game. The 3rd is currently down 2 games to 1 in their NLDS round, on the edge of elimination.

Is this really what we want in a playoff system?

Here’s a thought…since the divisions don’t actually matter anymore, why not take the top 8 teams in each respective league and put them in a bracket? Or better yet, go back to 3 division winners and one wild card team.

The byes have to stop.
