I loved this quote from 8/16’s episode of the “Dear Prudence” podcast from Slate:

You don’t become an adult until you’re out of your 20’s. You don’t know yourself until you turn 40. You’ve lived enough of your life to where you know your likes, your dislikes. You’re not easily persuaded.

That quote came from Karen Morrow, co-host of “The Black Guy Who Tips” podcast. Said with gusto and a whole helping of experience.
