On a related note…Reid Epstein (politics reporter for The NY Times) said this in a “The Daily” podcast on 10/2/2024:

And this debate, like the last one, likely won’t produce any major shift in the polls that we see in the next couple weeks. You have to remember this is an election on the margins and we’re really talking about a couple hundred thousand voters in the seven battleground states moving one way or the other that will determine who the next president is. Tens of millions of people will have watched this debate, and 70 million people watched the last debate. These candidates, to win the election, need to talk to just a tiny slice of voters in just a few states, and those are the ones whose judgment will determine the future of the country.
