My 16 year old daughter had her second 3 hour driving lesson with a licensed instructor yesterday. It was a different instructor from the first time.

He made conversation.

He asked “so did your parents vote for Trump”

Repeatedly praised Trump

Made racist comments about all the “illegal immigrants”

Asked excitedly whether ICE had come to her school yet

Said “now we’re in the Freehold borough, but I call it Mexico”

When a woman ran a red light, said “She’s definitely an illegal immigrant, she’s probably dumb and can’t speak English”

Also, he said that he doesn’t like to wear seatbelts unless he’s doing driving instruction

Anyway, this is America.

This instructor has been nothing but emboldened by the election and the seeming glee they have for putting down anyone and everyone down that is not them.

This is the fact that is overlooked while everyone focuses on what is going on at the macro level. They miss the smaller, more local bigotry that has only been emboldened and/or cheered on since November.
