It’s a shame train travel isn’t a thing in the U.S. Yes we have Amtrak, but that’s like comparing Atlanta’s MARTA system to Paris’ Metro. It’s not even in the same league.
Which makes wonder: Did we have a train system (for personal travel) at one point and let it lapse over time? Or did we just never have one at all?
Watching the cities (towns, really) in Germany go by in the window this morning is fascinating. Villages, towns, cities connected by a common system. I wonder if the vast size of the United States played a part in its failure and/or demise.
