I’m not going to discuss the shooting. But I am going to link to some pieces that show the importance of NOT valorizing or lionizing Charlie Kirk:

Like him or not, his views were dangerous to pretty much everyone except straight, white men. I’m not surprised he gained so much notoriety from Trump and MAGA. This is, after all, what they want, what they stand for, what they believe. I am surprised, and very sad, that he was so popular among young, impressionable minds. Specifically the minds of young men who have yet to learn what it’s really like to be a man.

The worst thing I’ve witnessed in the last few days, however, is the utter contempt and (as you’ll read) dangerous intent of the “right” regarding the “left” in the reaction to this shooting. It’s almost double-speak at this point. I was going to list them, but I found this blog post by Jay Kuo that points out everything I was going to:

For what it’s worth (which is probably nothing), but the President of the United States owes this country an apology for his remarks on Wednesday evening. They were mean, hate-filled, vindictive, and worst of all, UTTERLY FALSE. It is NOT how a president should act. I know, I know. It’s par for the course with this guy, but still.
