As I was falling asleep last night, as I’m oft to do, my brain went a little nuts. It turned to AI and my ongoing struggle with accepting it. Don’t get me wrong, I have embraced it with software development. It really shines with code generation. I haven’t fully embraced it in pretty much anything else.
But it got me thinking about why. Why have I not embraced it? As a programmer, and even more so as an architect, I always ask myself these questions:
- Is it repeatable?
- Is it maintainable?
- Is it manageable?
I cannot in good conscience answer “yes” to any of these questions when it comes to the generic use of AI in things other than textual review and code generation.
Maybe there’s something to that.
